Here’s the perfect sugar cookie dough – easy to make, roll and cut, and makes up thin and soft.
Perfect Sugar Cookie Dough

Ingredients
1 cup 1 cold butter (2 sticks)
1-1/2 cups 1-1/2 white sugar
2 2 eggs
2 tsp 2 vanilla
- Dry Ingredients – Sift together then add to wet ingredients
3-1/2 cups 3-1/2 white all purpose flour
1 tsp 1 baking powder
1/2 tsp 1/2 salt
Directions
- PREP: Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- WET INGREDIENTS: Cut butter into small pieces (about 1/2″ cubes). Cream with sugar until smooth. Add in eggs and vanilla.
- DRY INGREDIENTS: Sift dry ingredients together. Add 1/2 cup at a time to the wet ingredients.
- ROLL: Lightly flour a smooth surface and rolling pin. Roll dough out to 1/2″ thick. Cut with cookie cutters and place on prepared cookie sheet.
- BAKE: Bake about 10-15 minutes (depending on cookie size). DO NOT OVERBAKE. Cookies are done when fragrant and the edges are just beginning to brown.
- COOL: Let set in the tray for a couple minutes to set, then remove and let cool on a wire cookie rack.
