Perfect Sugar Cookie Dough

Ingredients

  • 1 cup 1 cold butter (2 sticks)

  • 1-1/2 cups 1-1/2 white sugar

  • 2 2 eggs

  • 2 tsp 2 vanilla

  • Dry Ingredients – Sift together then add to wet ingredients
  • 3-1/2 cups 3-1/2 white all purpose flour

  • 1 tsp 1 baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 salt

Directions

  • PREP: Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • WET INGREDIENTS: Cut butter into small pieces (about 1/2″ cubes). Cream with sugar until smooth. Add in eggs and vanilla.
  • DRY INGREDIENTS: Sift dry ingredients together. Add 1/2 cup at a time to the wet ingredients.
  • ROLL: Lightly flour a smooth surface and rolling pin. Roll dough out to 1/2″ thick. Cut with cookie cutters and place on prepared cookie sheet.
  • BAKE: Bake about 10-15 minutes (depending on cookie size). DO NOT OVERBAKE. Cookies are done when fragrant and the edges are just beginning to brown.
  • COOL: Let set in the tray for a couple minutes to set, then remove and let cool on a wire cookie rack.
